TMAP -Terracotta Mobile Amplifier Project - Patent awarded

Quantity

Product details

This patented Terracotta mobile amplifier is crafted by potters in Karnataka, with the bangle on which it stands made by Channapatna wood crafters and decorated by local artists. Initiated as a post-pandemic project, the Terracotta amplifier has generated livelihoods for rural artisans across three craft clusters: Channapatna, Narayanpura, and Magadi.

This is also the first design creation from the Tamaala portfolio to win a craft patent and a craft fellowship for its designer(Suvarna Kamakshi). This has enabled us to experiment with the idea with other designs and create more sustainable options for acoustic amplification.

TMAP – Terracotta Mobile Amplifier Project is a handcrafted acoustic mobile amplifier that naturally increases the sound of your smartphone without using electricity or batteries.

Made from locally crafted terracotta clay, this amplifier combines the skills of rural pottery artisans with the artistry of Channapatna craft traditions. The terracotta body is carefully shaped, fired, and finished with natural tones, creating a minimal yet elegant design.

Using the amplifier is simple — place your smartphone in the slot at the top so that the phone’s speaker aligns with the acoustic chamber. The cone-shaped terracotta structure naturally amplifies the sound, giving your music a richer and louder output.

The TMAP terracotta amplifier is not just a functional gadget but also a beautiful piece of handmade decor for your home, office desk, or living space. It also makes a thoughtful eco-friendly gift for music lovers and sustainable lifestyle enthusiasts.
