The History

Known as the National Board Game of India, and by various regional names such as Pagade, Dayakattam, Thaayam, Pachisi, and Chaupar, this ancient cross-and-circle game has been played for centuries across homes and royal courts alike. Considered the origin of modern Ludo, the game brings together chance, strategy, and social play in a timeless format.

Gameplay

This handcrafted set features lac-turned ivory wood coins made by Channapatna artisans, paired with a hand-stitched, embroidered, and block-printed cotton fabric board. The handcrafted dice, made by Saharanpur artisans, bring together multiple Indian craft traditions in one beautifully made game.Lightweight, foldable, and easy to carry, the large-format board is designed for both floor seating and tabletop play. 

This classic race game involves moving pieces around the board and reaching the center before your opponents, relying on a balance of tactical thinking and luck.
